Getting rid of blackheads
Are you bothered by blackheads on your skin? Blackheads are very common and can appear anywhere on the face or other parts of the skin, but most commonly in areas that are oily. Blackheads are the skin’s own oil, or sebum, and dead skin cells, which together get stuck in the pores.

How are blackheads formed?
Clogging occurs when the dead skin cells do not fall off fast enough and thus prevent sebum from spreading on the skin. In this case, sebum wraps around the dead skin cells and clogs the pores. Then, if the skin closes, a whitehead will form, which can also get inflamed and turn into a pimple. If the skin remains open, the sebum in the pore oxidizes and turns black, creating a blackhead.
It is good to know that the small dark dots on the nose that resemble blackheads are not blackheads, although blackheads can also appear on the nose. These are sebaceous filaments that almost everyone has. However, you can make these less visible with the same products and techniques as blackheads.
How the get rid of blackheads?
First of all, you should know what not to do to a blackhead. Many people want to tear and press blackheads out of the pores with dirty fingers or with a tool intended for removing blackheads. In both cases, however, the risk is that the pore becomes irritated and even further inflamed. You can also damage the skin from too much pressure.
If you want to squeeze the blackhead out, use gloves or disinfect your hands, soften the skin with a towel soaked in warm water and use light pressure when removing. If the blackhead does not come off with a light grip, it should not be squeezed out. However, this kind of mechanical removal of blackheads does not really help with sebaceous filaments, even if you use a nose patch. Sebaceous filaments removed mechanically always come back. This is often the case with blackheads as well.

Help from exfoliating acids
More effective solutions for blackheads can be found in cosmetic products intended for blackheads. Best ingredient for treating blackheads is salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is a BHA acid, which means it is oil-soluble and gets deep into the pore to soak up the sebum that has blocked it, cleaning the pore. Salicylic acid is found in both Kiwi Clear products.
The Kiwi Clear Gel Cleanser is a great daily way to keep blackheads at bay. In a cleansing product, salicylic acid is a little gentler, because it is rinsed off the skin, and therefore it can be used daily without any worries. When cleansing, the exfoliating power can be increased by rubbing with the fingertips, but even then, the skin should not be scrubbed too harshly when cleansing.
The Kiwi Clear Serum is a slightly more effective product, so 1-3 times a week is enough for good results. However, depending on the skin type, daily use is also possible. The Kiwi Clear Serum contains the same amount of salicylic acid as the gel cleanser, so 0.5%, but as a leave-on product it has a longer effect on the skin. In addition, the AHA and PHA acids contained in the serum purify and exfoliate the skin surrounding the pores, which also helps to achieve a smooth glow.
More gentle options
Milder alternative to salicylic acid in pore and blackhead care is niacinamide. Niacinamide can be found in the Watermelon Dew Serum and Cream and in the Kiwi Clear Serum. Niacinamide helps control excess oiliness on the skin, which reduces the amount of blackheads and makes them go away quicker. Niacinamide is suitable for all skin types, so it is easy to add into a routine even for drier and more sensitive skin, for example through the Watermelon Dew serum.
The last good way to remove blackheads is through oil cleansing. Many cleansing oils advertise that they are especially effective on blackheads and enlarged pores, but in reality, all oil-based cleansing products help with this. The key to effective oil cleansing, for example with the Watermelon Sorbet Balm, is cleansing time.
Oil cleansing does not dry out the skin in the same way as water-based cleansing, so you can do it for several minutes without worry. However, you can notice blackheads and sebaceous filaments coming off the skin already after a couple of minutes of oil cleansing. Regular effective oil cleansing is a great way to achieve smoother, softer and more glowing skin for all skin types.
